Breakfast in Canggu: Top 7 Places To Start The Day
From top places to get a Flat White to picture-perfect cafes serving up mean plates of protein pancakes and vegan-friendly eats, here’s our pick of the best breakfast cafes in Canggu to grab a leisurely morning bite.
There are no words to express how outstanding the almond milk is at BGS Bali. Once you’ve tried an almond milk flat white, you’ll find yourself craving a BGS coffee every day…which is probably why they have so many regulars and returning customers.
If you’re hungry, they also have the most delicious smoothie bowls. I recommend the Bikini Bottom Smoothie Bowl and I hear you can ask the staff to throw in a little peanut butter. BGS is also one of the busiest cafes in Canggu, where you’ll spot some of the trendiest expats in the Gu stopping in for their daily dose of BGS coffee and surfers updating their gear and apparel.

This café is a hidden gem as it’s tucked away from all the hustle and bustle of some of the busier parts of Canggu. From its minimalistic, Nordic inspired décor to its Scandinavian dishes, it’s a charming spot to enjoy brunch.
Their menu allows you to design your own breakfast with a mix of both sweet and savoury. You can choose from some of their fresh pastries, eggs and meat, fruit or veggies. My favourite sweet treat are their cinnamon buns pair with a long black coffee.
This is also the place to come if you’re inclined to photograph your breakfast as they serve up some of the most colourful food in Canggu and the cafe itself is very beautiful.

If you’re a fitness junkie, have a limited diet or simply enjoy eating healthy, this is the spot for you! The menu boasts a delicious array of fitness inspired food options. They have everything from plant based, protein filled pancakes to one of the best chicken salads.
My go-to is the Fitness Plate no matter the time of day because it’s loaded with a good portion of veggies, hummus, sweet potato and beetroot. If you’re looking for something a little sweeter for breakfast, try the Homemade Vanilla Granola with a side of banana and peanut butter, it’s sweet, filling and packed with protein.
This is also one of the earliest cafes to open each morning, with breakfast starting at 7am.

The Shady Shack
From colourful dishes to true Bali island vibes reflected in their boho chic décor, your Instagram and your palate deserve to experience The Shady Shack. Cozy up on one of their couches in a hidden corner and enjoy your morning coffee all while taking in the scenery and greenery.
The food is SO fresh and delicious, and the presentation is a work of art. A brekky must-have is the avocado toast with Onsen eggs paired with a Start Up smoothie for added fuel for the day. You might even be tempted to take a look at their desserts, and have no shame, they are vegan and delectable.

One of the first plant-based restaurants in Bali and one of the most renowned…I mean they don’t refer to themselves as Garden Gangsters for no reason. All products at Café Organic are either organically grown in the backyard or sourced from ethically producing farms around Bali.
The décor is beautiful, chic, crips and clean with picture worthy accent walls. While you’ll want to try the entire plant-based menu, my ultimate breakfast recommendation is the Pineapple House. It contains fresh yogurt, granola, fruit and it is presented in a pineapple. It’s almost too beautiful to eat and where else will you find something like this!?

This open loft-style eatery is a cute café to enjoy breakfast, people watch, plan your daily to-do or even work from, for all of you digital nomads. The menu truly does cater to all types of foodies including meat eaters. While it’s tough to pick just one breakfast dish, I would highly recommend the Loft Waffles.
You can’t go wrong with vegan, homemade waffles topped with coconut nectar and vegan berry yogurt. AND, if the menu gives you a tip to add peanut butter, you should absolutely do as they say, especially if it involves enhancing your dish with nut butter.
Alternatively, if you’ve got a big appetite, I would strongly suggest the Bondi “BLAT” Sandwich featuring bacon, chicken, lettuce, avocado, tomato and coconut mayo. You’ll see it, when you believe it!
Address: Pantai Batu Bolong St No.50A, Canggu
This is one of the most happening cafés in Canggu for lunch or brunch. The lineups are due to its unique industrial Bali-style living room, wooden crate seating and communal tables overlooking rice fields. Their food menu is out of this world and it’s a relaxed spot to be to enjoy a brunch solo or with some of your pals – with insanely reasonable prices too.
Timing is key to find a seat but the food REALLY IS is worth the wait. Their Chia Puddings are decadent and to-die-for but one of the most popular breakfast items is the Brekky Plate – eggs how you like them, spinach, tomato avocado, salmon and toast. If you’re a chai latte lover, but sure to try it iced. Lifescrate when you eat at Crate!!
This cafe is the earliest cafe to open out of all the best in Canggu, with breakfast starting at 6am!
